Distraction

You hear it all the time,
"I need a good Distraction"

Mostly the one saying it
Is talking about getting over something
Or Someone ....

That's what she said you were ...
And you.
Just Like work used to be
Just like cards.

She said she thinks I can take it
That I can "get" the Urgency of her statement:

"There is No 'There', there....."
(There is no there there), resounding in my head .....

No "There" there ....
Sounds like Mother, again
'...no dressed rehearsal...this is life...'

Funny how she would use that word;
There.

It was just something that came to me
that night,
when you and your fears and apprehensions were quickly spinning out of control.
I texted something to calm you down,
And calm you did.
A pause in the transmissions;
As if I could feel you take that much needed
Deep Breath ....
And I typed:

There......

It became our Mantra
through so many trials and horrific days
Just a reminder of Peace and Calm
That there just might be
An Oasis after being cast out into the Desert.

There is No there there ....
Metaphorically, There has always been there for me,
The Goal;
That destination, where I can stop trying to prove something to everyone else,
That place I can rest and be comfortable, joyful and loved.

And in my Forty-something Brain, I know that.
She has brought my Feet back down to the Ground.
Gee, thanks, I guess.

There is No"There" there ...
I am Here already ....
And It is Safe, and Good, and Still and Messy and Joyful
(and scary and risky and ...)
But it is My life and I need no There
to Be ....
